Atlantic Coast cycle route / Velodyssée - Euro Velo 1
The Velodyssey is the longest cycle route in France, 1200 km long, thanks to which you can cycle along the Atlantic coast from Roscoff to Hendaye or the way round. The itinerary goes through Brittany along a portion of the Nantes to Brest canal till Nantes and continues across Vendée, Charente-Maritime before reaching Gironde, the Arcachon bay, the pine forest of the Landes country and at the end the Basque coast.
This cycle route is a very good choice for a family cycling holiday on the seaside, as the Velodyssey is for 80% on dedicated cycle paths with no cars and offers many possibilities to take a dip in the ocean along the way. Our self-guided bike trips are covering the stretch between La Rochelle and the Basque country. Our packages include the luggage transfer each day to make the trip easier and more comfortable (except in the 4-day trip where luggage transport is optional). Cycling the Atlantic coast takes you through forests, across marshland and along the sandy beaches. You are most of the time surrounded by nature in a relaxing atmosphere, which is always much appreciated on a cycle trip.
We will be glad to help you prepare your next cycling holiday along the French Atlantic coast. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any question on our tours.
