This is a perfect family bike route on one of the most beautiful (and safest!) bike paths in France. Your scenic route takes you from Bordeaux to the Atlantic Coast. Along the way, scenery varies from pine tree forests past quaint villages to sandy ocean dunes on the peninsula of Cap Ferret.
After visiting the UNESCO Heritage city of Bordeaux, you’ll take a boat along the Arcachon Basin and stroll around the city of Arcachon, with its bustling town square. The protected beach on the edge of Arcachon Basin is particularly suited for swimming, so don’t forget your swim suit! Enjoy the Dune du Pyla, the tallest sand dune in Europe. Later, visit small seaside fishing villages, many painted in traditional bright colors. Don’t miss the chance to taste some fresh oysters while relaxing at an outdoor café.

Luggage
For this trip, bikes are equipped with 2 waterproof saddle bags with a capacity of 10 to 20L each to transport your luggage. Do not forget to put your items in a soft travel bag to be able that you can roll it up in your saddle bags.

Our word of advice : as we know from experience, we strongly recommend you to avoid wearing a backpack during your cycling trip.
Travel documents
A cycling holiday is the best way to explore a region and discover its culture, landscapes and local traditions.
Your tour is self-guided to give you the freedom to ride at your own pace. You will be provided all the information you need to enjoy the itinerary and its points of interests.
We can provide you with travel documents in paper format (for a supplement of €15 for printing and postage), which include:

Our GPS App
For this trip, you can also use our smartphone app featuring GPS guidance (without extra fee).
You will find in the app all the information given in the map and step-by-step roadbooks. You will be located on the itinerary with the GPS device of your phone. The route and directions to
follow will be both viewable on the screen of your phone and announced aloud. As you ride along the itinerary, you will be given information about visits, restaurants, services and
useful alerts on the way.

be given after we have confirmed the booking and the balance is paid. Once the trip is downloaded, the GPS guidance can be used off-line.
To get to departure point:
Parking
If you drive to Bordeaux, you can park your car in a secured car park located in the city center, close to your accommodation and the train station. The daily rate is 6€ and decreases depending
on the duration. This parking is secured and opened from 5am to 1am. It is accessbile for vehicules up to 1m90 high. The location and contact details of the car park will be given in your
travel documents.
To get back to starting point:
Regional trains take you back to your starting point if you wish. They are accessible without booking in advance and bicycles are free. You have to buy your ticket on spot (full rate
11.20€/adult). The duration to commute is about 50 minutes. You will find the timetable of the day in your travel documents.
If you chose the luggage transport, you will be able to pick up your luggage after 5pm at the pick up location.
Meeting time:
You pick your bike in a shop near the train station. You arrive whenever you want depending on where you come from. Please note that the shop is open Mondays to Saturdays from 9am to 12pm and
14pm to 18pm. (Sundays and bank holiday on demand).
If you chose luggage transport, you must arrive before 10am to drop off your luggage. Bikes pick up point and luggage drop off point are located next to the train station and will be given in your travel documents.

Velo Voyageur did not disappoint. We had an active, fabulous holiday with their 4-day excursion from Bordeaux to Arcachon. Nicely paced, lots of flat riding, and some beautiful pine forests - well-appointed hotels, pools at nearly every destination to relax and recuperate - a dream holiday. We'd do it again!

Nous avons passé des journées plein de lumière, des odeurs et de l'esprit de la liberté en route avec les vélos. À travers les pinèdes sans but, le chant des cigales dans les oreilles, le soleil sur le nez, l'aventure dans le coeur - tout simplement merveilleux. We really enjoyed the ride between Bordeaux and Archachon. The bikes were excellent, and the route was scenic and easy to navigate using the app.
However, the luggage service was poor, and they need to get a new provider. Our luggage arrived late on two of the three hotels, and had to change our dinner plans as a result. Communication around this also left a lot to be desired.

The trip was pretty, the accommodations comfortable but the bike was heavy, uncomfortable and lacked a bike trip meter. This was especially hard because I was carrying all my gear since I couldn't afford the luggage shuttle as I would be charged the price for two people.

Nous sommes très satisfaits de notre séjour Bordeaux - Arcachon!! Itinéraires long, mais faisables par nos enfants sans problème. Sur les conseils du Vélo Voyageurs, nous avions « testé » préalablement la capacité de notre fille de 5,5ans à pédaler sur longue distance, et le séjour a été très agréable. Notre fils de 10ans a adoré également, et s est bien amusé dans les pistes à travers les dunes.
En plein mois d aout, nous craignions le monde, mais à l exception de l’abord des villes et plages un peu chargés (a Lacanau et au Cap Ferret), il n y avait presque personne.
Les échanges préparatoires au séjour étaient fluides et personnalisés : nous avons pu raccourcir le séjour d'une journée, faire envoyer les docs à une adresse secondaire. Et nos bagages ont été récupérés le premier jour dans un hôtel que nous avions réservé nous-même au centre de Bordeaux (on avait vérifié qu'il avait une bagagerie)

Die Tours "Bordeaux - Arcachon le long de l'Atlantique" kann wärmstens empfohlen werden. Sie ist grösstenteils flach und führt auf eigenen Velowegen vorwiegend durch Pinienwälder. Die Tagesetappen sind leicht zu bewältigen und man ist niemals gefährlichem Autoverkehr ausgesetzt. Sämtliche Hotels weisen eine Topqualität auf. Sie liegen nicht in der Ortsmitte. Mit dem Fahrrad kann man aber den Transfer vom Hotel zu den Zentren in wenigen Minuten bewältigen.
Der Gepäcktransport hat immer reibungslos geklappt, die Hotels waren immer reserviert.

Belle première expérience qui allie activité, découverte sans se préoccuper de la logistique. Après une journée à vélo, il est nécessaire d'avoir un hôtel de bon niveau permettant de se ressourcer avant l'étape du lendemain.
Les informations fournies et la qualité du parcours nous a fait passé un bon moment dans cette région des Landes, que nous avons largement découverte au grès des pistes cyclables de belle qualité.

Nous avons testé les vacances en vélo avec nos 2 ados de 15 et 17 ans sur le parcours Bordeaux arcachon. C’etait Surprenant , rafraîchissant et enthousiasmant. Paysages de rêve , parcours très sécurisés, transfert des bagages efficaces, étapes équilibrées. Les vélos étaient de très bonne qualité et les sacoches bien pratiques.

Les vélos très bien equipées. Magnifique expérience familiale (2 adultes, 2 jeunes et 1 chien). Nostre chien a été très bien réçu dans tous les hôtels. Les forêts, les plages et la dune de Pyla encore plus jouiées en vélo.

Parcours idéal en famille (enfants de 15-12-8 ans).
Parcours quasi entièrement cyclable et isolé du trafic. Très sécurisant avec des enfants.
Très belle façon de découvrir Bordeaux et les Landes.

Nous avons parcouru 230 km en 5 jours pour découvrir l'Aquitaine entre Bordeaux- Lacanau - Arcachon. Nous sommes ravis, tout s'est déroulé à merveille, arrivés dans les hôtels, nos valises nous attendaient. Nous avons profité des piscines des hôtels, du Spa à Lacanau, un réel bonheur après notre parcours à vélo. A Arcachon , nous avons conservé les vélos un jour de plus, ainsi nous avons réalisé deux excursions : la dune du Pilat et le lac Cazeaux, le sable chaud et le soleil avant l'ombre et l'eau douce. Nous avons aussi découvert la Maison de l'huître,visite guidée extrêmement intéressante, mais le parc ornithologique nécessitait une visite de 3 heures avec deux heures de plein soleil, nous avons donc préféré nous prélasser au bord de l'eau avant le retour en TER. Nous allons renouveler l'expérience dès que possible car nous sommes emballés par la formule !

Nous avons apprécié ce parcours plat, sur pistes cyclables. Les paysages sont de plus en plus jolis au fil des jours, aussi nous recommandons de passer une nuit supplémentaire à Arcachon pour profiter des petits ports ostréicoles du bassin d'Arcachon et d'aller sur la dune du Pyla.
C'est le 3ème voyage que nous faisons avec Le Vélo Voyageur et l'organisation est toujours aussi top !

Séjour sportif avec nos 4 enfants de 9 à 17 ans, quel plaisir de partir de Bordeaux, longer les quais et se rapprocher petit à petit de l'océan!
On ne prend que l'essentiel et en route pour l'aventure!
Rouler en pleine nature, sous la pinède, avec cette délicieuse odeur de pin, c'était fabuleux!
