Arrival in this beautiful Bavarian baroque city, also known as the city of three rivers. The Danube River meets the Inn and Ilz Rivers simultaneously. You can even tell the difference between the rivers when they meet: The Danube has brown waters, the Inn green waters and the Ilz black waters. Stroll through the city, discover the majestic cathedral and its pedestrianized historical center.

Passau - Donauschlinge area
You start your bike tour along the Danube, to quickly leave Germany for Austria. You will not miss to stop at the Trappist abbey of Engerzell and then continue your bike ride to Schlögen where the granite rock forces the Danube to turn around.
You take the ferry to reach the other side of the Danube where you spend the night.

After the Danube loop, the river narrows and forms a bottleneck. You continue your bike ride through the green countryside and pass through the typical Austrian villages of Aschbach, Ottenheim and Wilhering to arrive in Linz, the regional capital. Stroll through the main square, framed by baroque facades and taste the famous Linzertorte.

Day 4 |

You pass through the Machland nature reserve, home to many varieties of dragonflies and birds. You leave the banks of the Danube for a while to discover St. Florian’s Abbey and Enns, the oldest town in Austria. After a stop at the market square, dominated by an imposing 60m high tower, symbol of the city, you will return to the banks of the blue river, which will lead you to the charming baroque town of Grein.

You cross the Strudengau valley and stop a few kilometers further on in Persenbeug to admire the small town and its castle. You continue to follow the banks of the Danube to Ybbs and arrive at the formidable baroque abbey of Melk which majestically overlooks the Danube valley.

Day 6 |

|
The Wachau is one of the many green valleys of the Danube, known worldwide for its wine and liqueurs (especially apricot). In 2000 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will pass through many small wine villages like Spitz, Weissenkirchen. You can stop to visit the ruins of the castle of Dürnstein, where Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned.

On your last stage, you will cycle through the Wienerwald, the forest bordering Vienna, before arriving in the heart of the majestic Austrian capital.

Day 8 |

End of the stay after breakfast. Take advantage of the day to visit some of Vienna’s rich historical heritage: Schönbrunn and Sissi’s residence, the imperial Hofburg Palace, the jewel of Viennese Art Nouveau known as Jugendstil at the Secession Palace...Vienna is dotted with parks, such as the Prater Park, a green oasis and haven of peace.

Bikes
On your arrival day, we provide you with:
- a touring bike adjusted to your size or a tandem
-
equipped : front rack pack with an integrated file compartment, saddlebag, helmet (on demand), reflective vest, repairing toolkit with patches etc.
We also provide you with the appropriate equipment for your children :
baby seat, bike trailer or trailer bike depending on their age and size.
Electric bikes are also available for adults (+1m55).
You can of course also bring your own bikes, in this case a reduction will be applied (see the Tarif tab)
Luggage
Our services include luggage transport in order to let you enjoy your trip comfortably and without stress :
- We transport your luggage from one accommodation to the next using a private vehicle.
- Your luggage is directly delivered in your accommodation before you arrive.
- We provide a saddlebag for the things you shall need during the day.
Our word of advice : as we know from experience, we strongly recommend you to avoid wearing a backpack during your cycling trip.
If you expect to arrive at the next accommodation before 5 p.m., we recommend that you take an extra set of clothes with you in your bicycle bag.
Travel documents
A cycling holiday is the best way to explore a region and discover its culture, landscapes and local traditions.
Your tour is self-guided to give you the freedom to ride at your own pace. You will be provided all the information you need to enjoy peacefully the itinerary and its interesting sites.
You will have in your travel documents maps of the itinerary
- a detailled bike map (scale 1:50 000)
- a leaflet with the point of interest and your practical information (hotellist, opening hours, etc.)
Example
