The Southern part of the Velodyssey cycle route is ideal for an itinerant cycle holiday with the family. From Arcachon to Bayonne, or said differently from the Bordeaux region to the Basque country, you ride on a secure cycle path on flat terrain almost all the way, except after Biscarrosse beach where we have planned a very short stage to avoid rushing.
Our tour starts in Arcachon, which is not be missed for its location on the basin, but foremost because the dune of Pilat, the highest sand dune in Europe, is rising nearby. You ride further through the forest of the Landes country where the scent of the pine trees will delight you. Cycling along the Atlantic has also the advantage of offering many opportunities for a stop at the beach and a dip in the ocean that all the family will enjoy. You end up your ride at the entrance of the Basque country In Bayonne, an historic town on the shore of the Adour river.
The South West of France is known for the warm welcome of its inhabitants and their relaxed attitude, not to forget its delicious gastronomy.

    Super rando

    On the 2020-09-21 by BERTRAND
Notre randonnée de 7 jours entre Arcachon et Bayonne s'est déroulée formidablement sous le soleil avec des possibilités de baignades tous les jours, un parcours très agréable sur la Vélodyssée et des hébergements bien situés.
